SŽ-Tovorni promet signed a contract for the purchase of 30 new multi-system electric locomotives from Alstom Transportation Germany. This purchase is the largest modernisation of the Slovenian Railways freight fleet in the last 20 years. The locomotives will be delivered between April 2027 and September 2028.
The investment is part of a strategic partnership with the Czech company EP Logistics International, which owns a 49% stake in SŽ-Tovorni promet. The new locomotives will be licensed for operation in several European countries, which will increase the company's competitiveness in the wider region.
The locomotives will have higher traction power, higher speed, lower power consumption and lower maintenance costs. The cost of the locomotives is EUR 152,099,988 excluding VAT.
